If you're having trouble accessing your Wagepoint account because your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) isn't working, you can use a recovery code to log in. This guide will walk you through the process and clarify the difference between an authenticator code and a recovery code.

Note: You will only be able to recover your access using a recovery code if you set up 2FA using an authenticator app. This option is not available if you have used SMS for your 2FA.

What's the difference between an authenticator code and a recovery code?

  • Authenticator Code: This is the 6-digit, single-use code generated by your authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy). It changes frequently and is used for daily logins.
  • Recovery Code: This is a 16-digit, single-use code that was provided to you when you first set up your authenticator-based 2FA. These codes are meant to be used as a backup if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Important: Your recovery codes are for one-time use only. You should have been provided with a list of them when you set up your 2FA.

Once you regain access, it is very important that you immediately reset your 2FA.

There are a limited number of recovery keys associated with your account. Each time you use a recovery key, you cannot use it again. Resetting your 2FA right away will prevent a situation where you've run out of viable recovery keys.
