(CA) Close account
In the event a company must close their Wagepoint account (going to a new payroll provider, no longer running payroll, business closes etc) there are several steps a company should consider.
There are two separate processes depending on the reason you will no longer be processing payrolls going forward:
1) Moving to a new payroll provider:
- Terminate all employees and generate/submit the ROE using the ROE SAT feature. (Ensure the ROE SAT has been signed under COMPANY > MORE > ROE SAT).
- If the YTD balances are being entered to the new provider and no T4’s or T4A’s are required, go to the Account Settings and toggle the 'Auto-submit tax forms' to NO and SAVE (If this option is not available please contact us and we can update the request on the backend)
- Ensure all required reports are saved to an external location. You can leave the account open, but it will go dormant after one year.
- If your company is under the umbrella of an accounting/bookkeeping firm, the partner will request to have it removed from the Partner client list and all User accesses deleted.
2) Business ceases operation:
- Terminate all employees and generate/submit the ROE using the ROE SAT feature. (Ensure the ROE SAT has been signed under COMPANY > MORE > ROE SAT).
- Request T4’s be created and submitted to CRA.
- Ensure all required reports are saved to an external location. You can leave the account open, but it will go dormant after one year.
- If your company is under the umbrella of an accounting/bookkeeping firm, the partner will request to have it removed from the Partner client list and all User accesses deleted.
Note: if your company is on Autorun please contact the support team at support@wagepoint.com to have the company removed from the Autorun list.
